Gov. Martin Elechi of Ebonyi has approved the
immediate release of N75 million for the completion of some structures
at the Federal Polytechnic, Unwana Afikpo.
Elechi gave the approval in Abakaliki while receiving members of the governing council of the institution.
Elechi regretted the slow pace of the work
which contract was awarded in November 2012 and was expected to be
completed before the end of 2013.
“We will do everything possible to ensure the
completion of the project in the interest of the students and staff of
the institution,’’ he said.
Earlier, the Chairman of the council, Chief
Chimdi Ejiogu, thanked the governor for his contributions to the
development of the institution.
“This is the first governor since the
institution was inaugurated 30 years ago to contribute to its growth. We
therefore implore you to ensure the completion of the structure as its
presence has brought further developmental challenges to the
institution,” he said.
In his remarks, the Rector of the polytechnic,
Prof. Francis Otunta, attributed the delay in the completion of the
project to non-release of funds.
But months after fund release, the management of the polytechnic has not officially made a statement on the progress of work.
who do we ask? Lol
